Although I have been trying to follow remedial actions to correct Y2K problems, I do not believe we will see major problems in the U.S. I am less confident about corrective actions by other countries, however. And, to some extent, their problems could cause problems for the U.S.

One area I am somewhat concerned about is our power grid/distribution system. There is a lot of corrective action and testing going in in that area. However, the impact of a mishap and ripple throughout areas of the country. Likewise, a problem in our mass transportation sectors can spread across large area

Another area that concerns me is date sensitive imbedded chips. That problem usually needs correction by a hardware change.

I think the financial institutions, including our stock markets are the best prepared for the situation. Most are completing their testing phases after corrective action or have solid plans in place.

All that said, I am not overly concerned about the subject, just trying to follow it because of the potential impact of lax corrective action.
