Conversion Between US$/CDN$ Accounts

Not sure about the other brokers, but with Greenline, if you are moving money from the US > CDN account or vice-versa and the amount is reasonably large ($25k I think is the minimum - not sure if that is CDN$ or US$) ask them to call down to the currency desk and get a better rate. It will save you quite a few bucks.

If you don't ask, you don't get.

I went thru the same experience trading US stocks.
I stick to Canadian--What I had to realize was the
average American trades very low volumes--The stock
trading volumes are high cause there are so many traders.
Thus I'v come to the conclusion--make the money in Canada
but buy and sell higher volumes--Thats Why the smart guys
stick to momentum trading.--It really is the only game
in town.
Just wish I new the shorting end of this game--I only play the
long.

Just my two cents--I still dislike our market but have to live with
it. What we need is to loosen up the trading rules and make the big players more accountable with information releases on what they are up to--There is just too much hidden from Canadian investors.

That what really ticks people off-.
