I don't straddle them right away... hence the bias... I buy puts on existing call position to straddle and protect a gain. Basically, I start my zero from a gain in the long side and wait for the turn to get rid of the losing option position... it smooths the volatility a tad. COVD I took puts on top of my existing calls yesterday to protect it... sure enough the little sucker tanked all day today... closed my calls 30 minutes after the open and closed my puts 1 hour before the market closed a nice gain both ways. If it went up of course the put would have been long history...
