I highly recommend checking out my candle site at the MDA website today. This unbiased automated scan had nothing good to say about Thursday except for the Russell 2000. It found bearish formations on the SPX, NASDAQ, and DOW. It called them a few other things than Iwould have but the direction implied was the same. I would have labeled them gravestones and bearish engulfing but what is in a name? <ggg>

Of course good CPI data could bounce us temporarily but this data is hindsight as far as I am concerned. I don't drive down the freeway by steering in the rear view mirror.

Lee,
That was a pretty good crack at it! Excellent observations on the Utilities and consumer credit. Hmmmmm, since I am a good bit exposed on the long side, I may not be able to wait till the weekend to look things over!
One observation I can make at this time is that gold and the XAU should continued lower after the damage done last Friday/Monday. They really have not and MAY be reversing. Normal reaction to the technical damage over the last couple years would have been lower lows going toward LT support or at best sideways with a lower trend. If these reverse within a few days to a week then something is up and the something may be inflation and or % rates.
