Vic--- The elimination of "POSITIONS" is a better way of putting it. Managers are not Execs. Often execs add a position that is needed and that manager starts adding employees.. often it is a not a function that is required forever (could we find a Y2K dept in 2005?).

Some managers that have been an assest may continue to be if given new challenging responsibilities,most would welcome a "new job" in the same company.
