The fact is PiMac that the IC law and the Constitutionally mandated impeachment process were followed as required. The IC law REQUIRES that evidence of impeachable crimes be referred to the House. Certainly Judge Starr believed that perjury, obstruction, etc were at least potentially impeachable offenses and he obeyed his statutory mandate. Bubba was tried in the Senate where he was defended by his own lawyers after being indicted (impeached) by the House based upon the information in the Starr referral and the evidence delivered by the truck load to the Capitol. You say he has not been offered an opportunity to make a defense so I'm assuming you missed the impeachment hearings. The "defense" was professionally and vigorously asserted on behalf of Bubba in the well of the Senate. As I mentioned, there is a serious legal question as to whether a sitting President may be indicted criminally and brought before the bar. Starr may yet indict Bubba in a criminal proceeding following his departure from office. So the real question is not how much is America willing to hate itself to get Bubba but rather: "How long do we continue to refuse to admit what a serious mistake we made in electing such a small man to such a great office?" Or perhaps more importantly the question to folks with your viewpoint is:"Do you really think it is wise to suspend the use of common sense when evaluating this matter and this very small man?" JLA
