CPI number looks very bad, could cause major correction in the NASDAQ and particularly in Internet stocks. Should be panic at the open as they gap down the stocks. On the other hand, the CPI is primarily an energy, tobacco and apparel number. The real issue is whether the Fed will raise rates on Tuesday, and set off a 1994 style carnage in the bond market. If the Fed raises on Tuesday, the Dow will continue to slide and the NASDAQ. The question is how to play this today to cut losses or even profit from it. What are the strategies? Buy puts? What puts?
