Well, JLA, I prefer credit to derision any day. Anyway, it is like international relation: the breakdown of diplomacy leads to war. Besides, I was willing to be civil in order to draw Gregor into a reasonable discussion, but he is obviously undissuadable about his goal to subvert the forum through "the heckler's veto", which is an offense against freedom of discussion, worthy of contempt, and grounds to drive him off. Finally, I am not in the mood to make a separate peace while he continues to harass everybody else. I only did so when I thought it might help to moderate his behavior...
