Right there is the explanation for IBM earnings--Y2K. They made a lot of money fixing their own screw-up. Or was anybody else more responsible for that puzzle? But that'll soon be done, and then what? The Internet leader is IBM? Since when? Captive audiences, that's what IBM is still running on. But better ways are here.
When I think about how IBM has screwed up so many projects, like the FAA's radar system, the Denver airport, etc etc...there are better, smarter, younger minds out there, than that stodgy old company who depends on making money off its service people.
Paradigm shift? Hey, we're all getting hip. We're not going back to mainframes run in cold rooms. Cisco is the Internet. Not IBM.
