I won't play with your last line, with a 10 foot pole or otherwise.

I think that there was a third acquisition by UNPH in 1997. I'll have to go back to GG report of about March or April 1998. On the UNPH CC one of the analysts, I believe, raised the Asian specter. I hadn't heard it before (in principle, sounds plausible) and management sort of brushed it aside without much substantive comment. I think that a lot of the pop in the share price recently is, imo, attributable to the apparent acceleration in carrier modeling and actual deployment of fiber in metro networks and not only long distance backbone. If metro deployment proves to be cost effective, and metro switching by fiber gratings comes down in cost and up in feasibility to non-fiber hand-off, the law of large numbers issue may prove not to be insuperable here after all is said and done. (Remember what that famous sage, Darrel Dawkins, said: After all is said and done, there is nothing left to say or do!)

Regards. Steven
