Thanks for the info, Frank. This post is to thread, on two points.

I have been using @home though Cox cable here in California, and it is fantastic for download, good for speed to servers, and slows down like mad in the evening when all the local subscribers get on it. At least, I assume this is the reason.

This is really a political question, at the moment, but I feel there is a real good argument for making the cable companies "common carriers", as we are doing to the electrical companies.

The cable co's have a monopoly granted them by the Government, and, although I object to this system, it is reality.

When you give cable co's a license to make money like this, AOL has a real good argument, IMO, that cable should be open, on a equal basis, to all portals.

I don't want to start an argument here on this, it would be a waste of time, but, It will be interesting to see how this plays out in Congress. It is a money raiser's dream for Politicians. The money AOL and the cable co's will put into this will be very large, IMO.
