I should have shorted thestreet.com yesterday when I was contemplating it. I wanted to do the same but found out new issues can't be shorted, they need to be public for 30 days. Well the broker at discover told me that, where I have a small account. Maybe a full service broker can do it, I don't know. Theres some commercial on TV (can't remember for what) that says "will you ever be able to buy stock in a rock and roll band?". Thats how I see thestreet.com and marketwatch IPOs, to me its like buying stock in an individual syndicated TV show.
