MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (Reuters) - Internet audio company Mpath Interactive Inc. (Nasdaq:MPTH - news) Thursday said Yahoo! Inc. is using the company's Web technology to add live-audio to its popular instant messaging service.

Through the agreement, Mpath's HearMe.com product is being used on the Yahoo! Pager instant messaging service, allowing people to talk to each other, send music or sing to each other in real time over the Net.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Shares of Mountain View, Calif.-based Mpath were among the top net gainers on the Nasdaq exchange, closing up $5.625 at $34.75.

Yahoo! Pager offers Internet users the chance to type instant messages to friends on the Net. With the new chat service, people can select who they want to talk with and then get a free live audio hook up.

Mpath is operating the live audio services for Yahoo. Internet users need a microphone, sound card and speakers to use the HearMe.com. technology on Yahoo.

Yahoo has created a link from its site to Mpath's HearMe.com where people can also do anything from play music, to recite poetry, and do impersonations in real-time.
