This guy doesn't know a thing about multitasking systems...what he is describing here is Windows 3.1..that is what he must be running on his desktop and not NT ..if everything else is suspended in the background...hahah..definately some kid at MSFT still going to NT classes

The core daemons wakeup periodically or upon request causing themselves to be paged in. Things like fsflush run very 3-5 seconds. Solaris is heavy weight, designed for larger SMP systems, which it does a good job for. For a desktop OS it's overkill.
