There are still some gems in COMS. If Lu is willing
to get rid off the fat from COMS and only keep the
best parts of it, it is still a very smart decision
for LU from my perspective (I don't hold any COMS
shares, so I am not in defense of COMS).

Gary, no way LU will buy COMS. THis is one of those rumors from Wallstreet you ignore. First of all it will not clear the justice dept, as the combined company will control 70% market in Internet access equipment.

Lu is not interested in consumer products, as evidenced by their recent moves of selling their consumer products divisions. Mr. McGinn wants to sell the end-end equipment for carriers, they are not interested in selling modems and consumer devices like palm pilots. They want to build RELIABLE SEAMLESS 21ST CENTURY NEXT GENERATION ( do not like using old and new) COMMUNICATION NETWORKS for this planet for years to come.
