Date:14-May-99

Kyodo via NewsEdge Corporation : TOKYO, May 13 (Kyodo) _ Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Victor Co. of Japan and Pioneer Electronic Corp. will market their first music-use digital videodisk (DVD) products from this summer, industry sources said Thursday.
Users of the DVD audio players will be able to enjoy not only music but also DVD movie software already marketed, they said.

Victor and Pioneer are expected to price the DVD audio player at 400,000 to 500,000 yen, while Matsushita has yet to decide on its sales price, the sources said.

The DVD is one of the next-generation digital recording tools which are expected to replace compact disks (CDs).

Sony Corp. plans to introduce its version of the next-generation CD player on April 21 at 500,000 yen.
