Robert,

I think you are right, some of asic's posts are very vague, but on the other hand many do convey some specific information. I had a working hypertext document that could pull up specific sets of posts on Yahoo and SI, until Yahoo changed their interface and the early links no longer work. I think both Yahoo and SI need an FC SAN so we can search all of the archives without all this scut work. I do have the numbers of the posts on some of the topics you mentioned including (all are in Yahoo numbers - just type in the numbers and hit the "GO" button):

The inappropriate comment on Ancor hardware/software: 2849

The buyout rumors (dating back to June 1998): 447, 456, 467, 475, 485, 513, 515, 523, 564, 580, 734, 1033, 1205, 1270, 1481, 1730, 1882, 1944, 2247, 2919, 3501.

The colors: 2329, 2418, 2755.

asic specifics: 850, 1305, 1695, 1782, 1957, 2190, 2194, 2605, 2694, 3195.

asic on the hub: 3715

asic errors? 1437, 2951.

Ancor is dead and various anti-Ancor: 3154, 3263, 352, 379.

The list is not all inclusive. I can't guarantee the numbers. I think that the Ancor detractor(s) in their various form(s) have "predicted" buyouts that clearly have not panned out. They have also made statements about the quality of Ancor products that were not remotely accurate. asic_1 has provided a welcome counterpoint, but even Ken Hendrickson has told us that winning the business takes more than superior technology. I have my own reasons for following all of these posts and do not mean to defend one anonymous poster over another.
