Seagate is getting very ambitious these days, already "farming" with HP & IBM on Tape Storage.

>>Tech Ticker

IBM, HP, Seagate work on storage format

International Business Machines Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co. are teaming with Seagate Technology Inc. to push a new tape-storage format in hopes of meeting some of the growing storage demands of the Internet. The potent trio could pose a major threat to the leader in the $2 billion tape storage market, Quantum Corp. Tape storage systems can currently hold as much as 40 gigabytes of data on one cartridge, and their capacity is expected to grow rapidly.<<

High capacity storage, like Hitachi's 9 Tbytes, could use a high capacity tape drive. Bet it will be a fibre channel drive. Hitachi has Ancor's stream-to-tape capability. Think Seagate could use something like Ancor's switch in their farm?

So purple's announcing Tuesday, is that it? The stock sure acts like it (not that I'm an expert or nuthin').
