Tim -- I doubt that we will ever know--- If we are to live in a true democracy then we must doubt the rhetoric of our leaders.. They should be answerable to us. We should not be under any obligation to give them the benefit of the doubt. History is abundant with examples of lying leaders...

This constant thread that our leaders are bumbling and making mistakes to forgive them for any atrocities is not wise IMHO...

OOps we bombed some civilians,, oops we bombed an embassy, oops oops.. None of us would accept such BS if we

were getting our house renovated....

I give US government the benefit of the doubt. But Just like what Americans would do if the situation reverses, a thorough investigation should be taken (which I think is already underway) to calm down the skepticism

Agreed. We would ask no less, and be presumptuous to ask for more were the situation reversed.
