More reliable Q3test benchmark scores are available from Brian Hook of id:

q3arena.com@idsoftware.com

Please go to the above URL and read his .plan so the paste below is seen in proper context:

"Test machine was an Intel PIII/500 w/ 128MB of RAM. Sound was disabled. We
want to run the tests on an AMD K7, but our test unit has some reliability
problems. Drivers were pulled directly from either 3Dfx's Web site or from
GLSETUP.EXE, depending on which was necessary for the adapter.

Hook has a bunch of comments about the individual cards in his plan. In the end, he recommends TNT or TNT2 based on the 32-bit features. However, he was impressed with all the 3dfx products (just wishes they were 32 bit as well).

Note that id has put a fair amount of work into getting their engine upto 32-bit so I can't see why they wouldn't recommend getting a 32-bit graphics board. Plus they developed using TNT's so the code probably is slightly tweaked to run well using TNT's drivers.

As a shareholder, I'm happy that the V3 is in the running as an excelent Q3 board. Now we just need some big OEM wins to keep the volume up in Juarez. All the hoopla over Q3 will die down and Unreal Tounarment will use GLide so we'll get an uplift from that hoopla.

Michael
