Recently AOL stock has been oscillating. It did take a pounding during the ATT/MediaOne/Comcast bidding. It entered into an alliance with Comcast to counteract ATT bid for MediaOne and then very abruptly pulled out. Microsoft on the other hand got something for themselves in the deal. Even though they allied themselves with Comcast initially, they along with Comcast were successfull in getting their fair share from ATT. On the other hand, ATT kept wooing AOL but AOL stuck to its gun and asked for bargain pricing (bulk rates) from ATT for broadband access. Some of us believe that AOL has been bargaining from a position of strength of 18+ million customers. But could there also be something more that may be a factor in AOL's bargaining strength. It was very unusual for ATT CEO to go public and woo AOL. Folks Steve Case and the boys with their business savvy and brilliance!!!

Also, what is mysterious to me is that AOL pulled out from Comcast very abruptly. And soon thereafter Henry Blodget and Mary Meeker (who have the ears of the investors as far as the Internets) came out pounding the table for AOL, cautioning not to count AOL out and they reiterated their target price in the 220+ range for AOL. And now we have the much awaited May 19 investor conference for AOL. Did Mary Meeker and Henry Blodget get a preview of what AOL is going to say at the conference? Would it not be wise on their part to keep quiet and not come out in favor of AOL if AOL had things to say at the conference that would not project a good investing prospect?

Something to think about over the weekend. Thoughts welcome folks. Is it possible they know something?

BEFORE YOU INVEST DO YOUR TA AND ALSO DO SOME THINKING.

I agree, Catcher. Interest rates are a huge factor and we are in for a correction... but if Greenspan is cool Tuesday, then it should be short term.. with the bond yield settling back down to 5.75 soon after..

I am very concerned about inflation ..it's a nervous market.
