Hello Frank and others:

I am surprised not to see any discussion of USW + GBLX
(incl. FRO). At first blush, I would say that this deal
will be DOA at the FCC. Given that the USW + QWST marketing
deal of last year was killed in court, how could this
even bigger deal be allowed to go forward?

Best regards,

Bernard Levy

Hi Thread,

Attached is a recent announcement on power line data indoors using
Ð Intellon Enhanced Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (IeOFDM) Ð as well as its Spread Spectrum Carrier (SSC) technology:

Phonex to Develop IP Telephony and Data Networking Phone Extensions
Using Intellon's 11 Mbps Power line Networking Technology

Salt Lake City, UT, May 17, 1999 - Phonex Corporation announced today it has signed an agreement with Intellon Corporation under which Phonex will develop, manufacture, and market Internet Protocol (IP) Telephony devices that will extend the reach of the Internet and broadband access networks to every electrical outlet within the home. Under this agreement, Phonex Corporation will develop and field trial devices in the second half of 1999 and is targeting production in the first half of 2000. Intellon's integrated circuits for high-speed No New Wires* networking are the first to enable "toll quality" Voice-over-IP (VoIP) at data rates up to 11 Mbps over the existing home electrical wires and encompass the necessary requirements to support voice and data
communication.

"Our partnership with Intellon enables Phonex to accelerate our product transition from analog to digital technology," said John Knab, CEO and President of Phonex Corporation. "Broadband access networks to the home and inside the home is the major focus of our customers. We believe Intellon's unique power line networking silicon solutions will be the standard by which all others will be judged."

"Phonex's market experience, distribution channels, and manufacturing
capabilities make them a very valuable partner for Intellon's high-speed power line communications technology," said Horst G. Sandfort, CEO and President, Intellon Corporation.
