They did worse. They lied to local authorities claiming that narcotics were being distributed by the Davidians. Those lies opened up military assistance from Texas National Guard units under counter-drug law enforcement assistance. That tank and the UH-1s were provided on the basis of this deception by the FBI and BATF.

I'm no fan of what the heads of these gov't agencies did and how they attempted to cover up their roles in assaulting a location where it was inevitable that innocent children would be hurt. It was very poor law enforcement tactics.

The only similarity is that in both cases negotiators purposefully limited their flexibility and continued with a plan that eventually required force to be the only result. That is the mistake that I find so disturbing.

You brought up Waco for some reason. I've responded, but it really isn't something I'll continue to discuss on this thread.
