Penni, the thought of you wandering around naked, crying, singing Butterfly, while eating anchovies, is something I will probably never be able to forget. Try as I might. No, I think we have different ideas about fun. I do like to rent so-called chick flicks, I guess, no one else ever wants to watch what I rent unless Arnold is in it. Ahn-uld.

I think a lot of the pleasure comes from the sheer indulgence of owning a large chunk of time all to yourself, time for the things only you like- which may not be terribly exciting to anyone else. Damn, I envy you. The last time I had a chunk of time all to myself - I think it was sometime last year - I thought about what to do with it, and by the time I finished thinking it was over. But then your children are older than mine. Whenever I hear parents of teenagers talking about the impending trials of the empty nest, I want to suggest a brief role-swap. It would probably give a bit of perspective to all involved.
