Skeets, Of course cops can lie to people they interrogate. They do it on NYPD Blue all the time. They aren't supposed to hit you, but they do that fairly regularly, too. <g>

However, I wonder how a cop who lies during an interrogation, can be believed on the stand?

Bug, police, or any other investigator from the Feds to private investigators, lying to a interviewee during an interrogation is standard procedure and settled law. I was sort of surprised when I attended a seminar and first heard about this and was taught how to pull it off to get the most bang for the buck and not get caught by the subject. If they catch you and they have half a brain it tends to shut 'em up like clams. -g-
