Incompetence #2
After paying the difference between the amount for which my check was coded and the amount I intended to pay, I was at least square with Norwest. I paid with a "phone check." I specifically asked if the check I wrote was going to come back to haunt my checking account balance. "No," said Kecia. "It won't be run back through your account again now that we have your phone-check." (Famous last words!)

Now all I had to do was fax Kecia (customer service rep in the MN office) a copy of my canceled check in order to prove the mistake was not mine. I was not too thrilled sending a copy of a check out over a fax line, so I asked to be informed when the fax was received. I thought it a reasonable request. Of course no one called. A week later when I called to find out if the check was received, no one knew Kecia.

Time wasted faxing the check and trying to locate Kecia: another 30 minutes.
