McMannis - Re: "The K7 will be the most serious threat to Intels dominance since the AMD386-40 if not, ever"

Not quite.

AMD's other products would all fit into an existing Intel socket/motherboard.

AMD's K7 requires a new slot/motherboard/chip set combination - and AMD is the SOLE SOURCE.

If you were running a high end Desktop/Server business, would you feel more "comfortable" in being sole-sourced on an Intel CPU that is made in 6 different Fabs around the world - or AMD with one current fab that has a history of MAJOR SCREW UPs - as recent as last quarter?

Jim, Re: The K7 will be the most serious threat to Intels dominance since the AMD386-40 if not, ever.

I have a completely different view towards K7.
