Doug - Re: " If AMD can't make the K6III in significant quantities, how a are they going to even entertain the thought of making K7's in mass volume to compete w/Coppermine/Merced/McKinley?...Anyway, I gotta go. What are your thoughts on these issues? "

Your thoughts mirror mine exactly.

To make things even more complicated for AMD, their K7 requires a COMPLETLEY NEW infrastructure - totally dependent upon AMD with no Intel coat tails to ride upon - new CHIP SETS, new Mother Boards, etc.

What customer wants to commit to AMD for a SOLE-SOURCED K7 when AMD has had an absolutely disastrous manufacturing record over the past 5 years ?

My guess is AMD will "refocus" on the low end and try to cut down their costs - LAYOFFS & SHUTDOWNS - and see if they can scrape out a meager profit at the bottom of the PC food chain.

"Nothing crazy, but I'd like to see INTC approach the levels of MSFT and CSCO."

First you say nothing crazy, then you say like CSCO, make up your mind<g>.
