AMD said in March that it would cut about 300 workers and would take charges in the first and second quarters. In the first quarter, AMD had a loss from operations of $118.8 million, or 81 cents a share, compared with a loss of $62.7 million, or 44 cents, a year earlier, and took a pretax restructuring charge of $15 million.
