>>Question for the thread: last Saturday, I went to Office Max and purchased two Jaz disks. The first one worked fine. The second one did not accurately tell me what was available on the disk. It seemed to read/write OK. What gives?

Another question, does a scan always have to be done before reading data to the jaz disk? That "deep scan" or whatever, takes a while, and will sometimes lockup.<<

Captain -

I'd be glad to help you troubleshoot your Jaz installation, although most other thread users might want us to take it offline into private messages.

To help you I'd need to know a few things.

1 - What type of computer do you have?

2 - What operating system are you running?

3 - I believe you said the Jaz2 drive was SCSI. Is it internal or external, and are there other SCSI devices on the chain?

4 - What type of SCSI adapter are you using?

5 - What version of the Iomega drivers, if any, are you using?

That's just for a start. SCSI is a somewhat tempermental technology, and there are some guidelines for setting up a SCSI chain which must be followed to prevent problems. That is true no matter what kind of SCSI devices you are using.
