Rex, as of now hard to say exact date. It takes some time for SEC review and amend. Generally speaking, a couple of month between initial filing and IPO is the case for most offerings. Just have to watch the news. As for direct *ground floor* participation you are out of luck. Unless you are a very lucrative client of one of the underwriters. I know some Brokerages like E-Trade offer 100 share lots to IPOs for customers. You have to do some digging to find which brokerage is offering which IPO and of course have an account with them.

I have waited several weeks to a months to buy Post IPO. The price often fades a bit after the glamour has subsided. Most recent example for me have been GBLX IPO aug98--> purchased 0ct 98.
