One of the things I was interested to see at E3 was what video cards companies were using to display their products. In general I would have to say that 60% of the games were showed on a tdfx, 30%-35% were shown on TnT2 and 5% - 10% were shown on ATI Rage. Electronic Arts seemed to be exclusively 3dfx, Sierra used alot of TnT2s by Elsa and some by Diamnond, Eidos seemed to be a mix between 3dfx and TnT2. Q3Arena in the Activision booth was demonstrated on TnT2 and ATI. I do not think it was shown demo's on Voodoo3. Id also was not one of the companies which presented at the 3dfx booth. I do not think it was a conspiracy I just do not think they needed the additional exposure. Q3Test was constantly surrounded by a crowd at E3. The games that graphically stood out to me at E3 were Diablo2, Anachronx, Dungeon Keeper 2, Q3Arena, Messiah and Tribes2.
I think 3dfx had a very good show and built alot of momentum. I was very surprised by the non-existence of most of the other graphics card vendors at the show. There marketing seems to be in full gear now and very aggressive. My only concern with them is when there 32 bit color card is going to come out. If it doesn't happen until November then I believe Nvidia is going to gain alot of the mindshare back.
