Intel is one of the leaders at the principle of cannibalization, evident with each wave of new chips.

The decision criteria for putting/not putting dedicated MPEG hardware onto a CPU has nothing to do with either the ability or inability to cannibalize the consumer pull-through-demand for CPU processing power to do MPEG.

The tradeoffs are real estate (higher processing power helps conserve real estate), new features, bus degradation, the price-point the market could bear, etc.

This statement becomes credible once you list the firms. Please name the firms.
