Finding ETs by radio is a far cry from being colonized. The distances seem to be too vast. I certainly would like to learn more about another intelligent species, wouldn't you?

I doubt if there would be Atillas ou there conquering other civilizations. It would take an enormous expenditure of energy and time.

We already have sent obvious signals of our existence to those with sensitive enough equipment, and the desire to find us. Television broadcasts have been emanating from our planet for about 50 years now, so that star systems within a 50 light year radius of us will be able to detect them. The cat is already out of the bag.
