Or it could just be bad. Star Trek insurrection was bad- and I love Star Trek (I even watched the old ones with Shatner whom I loath detest and generally cannot stand).

Sometimes coolness doesn't even enter into it. Sometimes a movie is just a bad idea. And the shear tonnage of merchandising for this one is off putting.

I have had a mini film festival this week and I can recommend "A midwinter's Tale" (Brannagh directs- a cast of hopeless actors putting on Hamlet in a small British town- Vanya on 42ns street, in Britain); "Firelight" hopelessly romantic, and I loved it; "Venice, Venice" really good older movie, I don't know how I missed it; "Head Above Water" I'll give it points for being nothing like I thought it was going to be; "Kissed" I don't recommend it. Too freaking weird. Got to thumbs up but I only watched the first 30 minutes. I didn't like the way it was going;"Talk of Angels" set during the beginning of Spanish civil war- I loved it. I saw a few other movies but they must not have been memorable.

I bet all the critics are way too coool to like it. So what.

That's Medved's take on it, and being as he's a critic he knows that gang. Says if they didn't pose as being above it all then they'd be leaving themselves with the rest of us plebians. 'Cept for X the Patrician.
