True that 'Company Sleuth' provides a lot of news items for larger companies that generate a lot of news, but I have not found it that effective for small caps. I'm not knocking 'Company Sleuth', because it compiles so much information from so many sources (patents, message boards, web sites, etc.). One small difficulty is that you can personalize it to a portfolio of only 10 stocks, whereas I want to run news on many stocks that come out of other screenings. One big advantage of 'Company Sleuth' is that it comes to you by email every day - no searching through URL bookmarks.

I still don't find the newspaper search engine that I'm looking for.

A fair alternative search engine I found recently is News Tracker.
nt.excite.com - from Lycos's competitor, Excite.

I ran a search from the 'home' page on Lycos. Results can be sorted by date or publication if you wish. Sorting by date, I find these news sources from May 12 to May 15:

News.com/CNET
Chicago Sun Times
Wired News
Herring.com
Business Wire
Miami Herald
ZDNet Australia
iWorld's InternetNews.com
S.F Gate/ San Francisco Examiner & Chronicle
Interactive Week
New York Daily News
Minneapolis/St. Paul Pioneer Planet
Detroit Free Press
ABC News
USA Today
The Detroit News
CNEWS/CANOE
Deseret News (Salt Lake City)
Bergen (NJ) Record
Info World
San Jose Mercury News
New York Post

search.excite.com

Disadvantage: Many of these stories may be the same article - from Associated Press, for instance.
Possible advantage: Each search hit has an associated 'Related Stories' link which finds many more article in other papers. Most of these are going to be irrelevant, however.

I still want my explicit newspaper search engine. I have a feeling that hundreds of other papers on the Web have not been searched.
