The last time is the "total elapsed time." This is the time from your modem to the server. Each measurement includes all hops from the first to that hop. So the last line includes all hops.

In this case: "16 169 ms 157 ms 153 ms mtnview-r03.quote.com [204.71.196.185]", which is 169 the first test, 157 the second, and 153 the third.
