Steve, That 700 miles of Hydrogen pipeline you mention existing in the world isn't just small compared to natural gas lines, it's plain tiny, if a goodly total nonetheless! Pipelines of various kinds are so numerous in this country their total mileage is comparable to roads on the map...if not more for heavens sake. Your point is well taken just the same, and I have first hand knowledge of 2 five mile long side by side 12" diameter pipelines running through areas south of Detroit(heavily populated) including underneath a grade school playground, one carrying oxygen and the other acetylene.
