"So you've essentially stated that criminals can go free until all the bills are paid??"

Of course not. But the UN is a convenient US whipping boy to be used or ignored - like the World Court. The reforms are on one level (and this is most of it) a nice cop out for the US not paying its way. I think if you scratched The Congress hard would they would want to disband the UN. As for the abortion issue this too seems to be a (right wing) red herring - rather the same as piggy-backing pet issues onto bills to prevent their passage.

This Kosevo business is so misguided - a disaster is a mild description. The NY Times article is one of the best I've read on this mess. d

Yes,Milosovic is a madman and should be deposed, but,is it our obligation to do the job? After all, this conflict began some 600 years ago when the ottoman empired attacked a Christion conclave in Kosovo and slaughter all the people. As I understand it,the ethnic
albanians are decended from these Turks.

I truly believe that slick Willie is promoting this conflict as a smokescreen to divert attention from all the other problems caused by his policies and behavior.

I am open to discussion and have many other opinions, and they are opinions as are most of the comments made by everyone on every message board.Nailing down actual true fact is most difficult to do these days.

>>It's not like we don't have the money or anything. It's a matter of the UN advocating policies that are distinctly opposed by the US, such as federal funding for abortions. <<

That's just the tip of the iceberg regarding the UN's statist, irrational (redundant?) policies. I for one would be glad to see the UN dismantled.

>>Then there's little matter about all those unpaid parking tickets UN officials have racked up in NYC. (Now who does or doesn't pay their bills??) <<

How about the sleazbag UN diplomats who rape women in NY then run back to the UN building under cover of "diplomatic immunity?"
