I doubt that the Chinese will make any effort to cut off trade with us. After all , as our trade deficit shows, they benefit more than we do from the relationship. Where else would they find that many consumers? As you suggest, I suspect these orchestrated demonstrations are for internal political purposes. Every dictatorship needs external "enemies" to distract the population from the real enemies running their government.
Meanwhile, I've raised a good bit of cash early last week, but really can't find anything I want to buy with the money. I'm thinking about our old friend SAP again, but does a broken gorilla ever heal? Also, the silverback of all gorillas, MSFT, isn't far from support. MSFT is obviously re-thinking it's business plan, and even though it appears to be spending money with the abandon of a drunken sailor, I assume there is some underlying plan that's not quite clear to me at this time. Also looking at increasing my holdings in NT (the invisible telecom stock that likely has the best prospects in the group).
