a year and a half ago i bought an amd k6 from tiger.
most computers for businesses do not have to be state of the art.
many use dos, 486, win 3.1, pentium 90. 14 mhz modem, 4 speed cd 2 GB hard drive or whatever and it suits them. Many biy thousands of computers. If they save $1,000/computer, they save millions of dollars. Many businesses are slow to upgrade because of initial expense, training, costs and aggravation of turnover. The $500-$700 machine is more advanced than probably 85% of computers in use -whether at home, small business or large business. If one buys the latest and greatest (which always says it is expandable, upgradeable, will be able to deal with future software), he still , in a year, doesn't have the latest and greatest.
