I have bought a Decmate II, IBM PS2 60, 386 clone, 486 clone, AMD K6.
I studied about computers before each purchase. I have subscribed to a number of computer magazines. I have invested successfully in IBM and Apple and unsuccessfully in Dell. I have handled a number of computer cases. I have computer experts in my family. I am familiar with what you posted. I am not saying one can buy for $600 a computer equal to a computer one would have to pay $2,000 for. But many people will be very satisfied with a $600 computer and it is better than what the vast majority of people are using.
