Larry, this is how I see it:
G.lite is a standard which is just now being agreed upon for splitterless ADSL/DMT. Being splitterless it is believed will help in the rapid deployment of ADSL. Aware makes money by selling algorithms for that standard. In addition they are looking for a patent for g.lite so that whether or not someone buys their algorithms, they would receive a royalty.
G.lite, however, is based upon ADSL/DMT ANSI T1.412i2 for which Amati was granted key patents. Amati was bought by TXN because of these patents and because of the Amati team expertise. They implement their own algorithms and have warned Aware that they would view a patent by AWRE as an infringement on their ADSL/DMT intellectual property. (Please read (http://www-s.ti.com/sc/psheets/spaa007a/spaa007a.pdf): as well as AWARE's own Edgar filing.

Yes, Aware is not the only name in town when it comes to G.Lite.

I consider Jim Wilkinson who can be found on the Amati thread to be more knowledgeable about this than I. He just informed me today that TXN/Amati has a Full rate ADSL/DMT G.lite implementation on their DSP. This is from Amati not Aware.

All the best & JMO,
Michael
