Quite a few people have made some righteous bucks going long on NXTL, FORE, COMS, XYLN, OMPT, BIDS...to name a few. These were some of the stocks mentioned on the thread you hinted at. Not every stock is a takeover but if one were to have gone long on these at the time they were mentioned it would have been obvious they were all undervalued and about to "pop".

Just a lurker.

Glad you and Lee enjoyed the article, I think it just reinforces the fact that you had better know who you are listening to when you make stock buying decisions. I own MCI and I would have been surprised if they bought NXTL, I did however hold NXTL for a trade as it ran up on speculation. I did not feel that NXTL would sell for the price that MCI would offer, Bernie Ebbers has been very adamant that he won't make a deal that would be dilutive to MCI shareholders. I still feel for myself that when I invest I need to incorporate fundamentals along with TA, my trades seem to be more profitable that way. And often, a buy reco by an analyst seems to signal at the least a short term top in a stock, often a good time to sell! Hope everyone had a great weekend, looking forward to an exciting week in the market.

Hey Mr Tradelite, the Business Week Magazine had at least 150 false rumors about buy-offs in their "Inside Wall Street' column over the past few years. None of them was materialized.Didn't you hear who pays those guys and who reads these columns long before they come to press?
Watch out!!!You guys going to get fried tomorrow.
