Actually, Ish, Destin is in the Fla. panhandle, about 50 miles east of Pensacola. It's an easy drive from Montgomery. We've gone down there the week before Labor Day the last four years; last year we even got first hand exposure to Hurricane Earl. We're not going this year because our oldest starts school in August and with the new job and all I'm not quite as rich in the vacation department. Plus, we have to use up most of my vacation time to visit family, as the closest are now over 300 miles away. CB was right on in her description of Destin -- pretty tacky but great for kids, great seafood (and cheap if you go early), white sandy beaches that are clean, etc.

We're driving up to N. Illinois for Memorial Day weekend, but a stop in B-N is probably not in the cards. We'll wave when we cross Veterans Parkway.
