Ron,

Israeli organs of securities have a job to do and they do it very well. They work hard to give Israel security and the Diaspora the
protection. But there are times, that they have their own opnions about what is good for the nation and what is not! Then they over-reach their authority. They do things that they shuldn't. The same is in the United States where CIA has done a great deal of things that are against the law.

I am not aware however if they manipulate the internal politics.

Ron,

It's obvious that the whole electoral process of Israel is kept ''under control''... Just remember Israel's previous general elections: PM Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated in a Likud plot (btw, I saw a French edition of journalist Barry Chamti's book) but Shimon Peres still enjoyed 50%+ in opinion polls. Then, you've got the Israeli Arab vote: they usually bring their suffrages to the Left, that is Sh. Peres.
But now, think about this: with 50% of Israelis voting left and 50% of Israelis voting right, who's gonna tip the scales? You bet: the Arab vote! That means that the whole Israeli electoral process is arbitrated by Arabs! Such an irony: 5 or 6% of Arabs enjoying a stronger leverage on Israeli politics than... 50% of genuine, 100% kosher Jews??! No way! That's why it took three days to sort out the ballot box during Israel's previous elections... Bibi can thank the Mossad for cooking his ''victory''.

Shalom,
Gustave.
