"Another Wall Street analyst, coy on naming names, said he had it on good authority that IBM (IBM:NYSE) was getting serious about buying Dell. But StockRumors.com, a pay-to-gossip chat site, had this nugget of information two days earlier: There is "a vague rumor out that IBM [will] acquire Dell very soon."

Interesting...I was in an electronic superstore in Sacramento, CA (Fry's) yesterday and during our conversation, a salesperson said she'd received a fax that Dell wouldn't be around long, that they were being bought out. I dismissed this as she wouldn't say who the fax was from. I now see all the rumors being reported here and have to wonder. What might this mean for Dell shareholders?
