Clark, <<I was hoping you would actually discuss the relevent issue of the threat of Asia. Whoever's question it is, it seems a reasonable one? Yes? In all seriousness, why is 'now' the right time to get worried about Asia?>> The concern is the detriment that rapidly growing Asian economies could produce. This is a current concern that is quite valid, in my opinion. The Asian breakdown beginning in 97 has been a gift from God to US investors that has helped moderate the growth in our economy since that time. It was a great insurance policy and kept the FED focused on accomadative interest rates. A recovering Asia does not mix well with inflationary fears in the US, no matter how unfounded. So far the long bond has risen to nearly 6%, over a full percent since last fall or so. This is a huge red flag to, in my opinion, astute investors. This is the time to take what someone says about a recovering Asia more seriously than ever as a possible problem. <<The last time I studied English, quotation marks were to be used to contain the words of the one being quoted. - You should reread your "Elements of Style". Single quotations are much more flexible that double quotations, and are often used for paraphrasing as in, Clinton said 'I didn't do anything with that woman.'.>> I'm more concerned with the elements of honesty, which were totally eclisped with the elements of outrage that were so apparent when whatisname attributed to Gottfried a question he never asked. And for you to ask Strunk and White to support it is as ridiculous as believing Clinton didn't do anything with that woman. As ever, D
