I agree that LMDS equipment is more expensive, but I beg to
differ on 2-way LMDS equipment not being as far along as 2-way
MMDS. Both WCII and TGNT have rolled out 2-way LMDS in
selected markets on a test basis and are gearing up for
a massive rollout. As far as I understand it, if delays
arise, it will be because of wireless networking software
(frequency division versus time division, wireless ATM
versus wireless IP ....), which are issues which would affect
MMDS just as well as LMDS.

The main element missing to LMDS yet is the availability of
cheap repeaters for setting up microcells to get around the LOS
requirement. This is why LMDS is very attractive for delivering
broadband telecommunications and data services to businesses,
but not for residential users. MMDS has the residential
market for itself for the time being, but the size of antennas
can be objectionable.
