<<<I am hearing the DELL/IBM merger is progressing nicely and the target price is going to be about $100 in IBM stock for every DELL share. Both parties want to close the deal over next weekend.>>>
A truly awesome rumor-lets try to keep it going, maybe CNBC will pick it up from the thread and put it on the air-move Dell up about 20%.Will we have to pay anyone (like an analyst)for starting it?(:O)

Gizelle-

I guess we will see how "fair" the price will be after Tuesday. BTW, where are you "hearing" this? Why next weekend, does DELL want to wait to set the buyout price based upon post-earnings prices?

IBM/Dell $100? That is odd. The deal originally broke off because IBM didn't want to pay $85 post split for Dell, when Dell was trading around $100 pre-split. Why would IBM offer more than what Dell was asking for? If anything Dell would be worth less because of its flat price for 3 months.

Give me a break! Why in the world would Michael Dell want to do such a thing? IBM buying Dell would do nothing but destroy the finely tuned machine that Dell represents.

IBM is incomptent and sluggish in its ways - just what DELL isn't.

gizelle...i suggest you cough up a reference if you want anyone to believe what you are saying...earnings will be great without this kind of news...people here don't take kindly to false rumor...i'm not saying it is false, but $100/sh implies REALLY good #s...do tell...

thanks, GR

Hey Gizelle, go back to sleep. SI's profile shows around 2.7B Dell outstanding shares. IBM will pay 270 billion for Dell? That is more than IBM's entire current market cap. Why not buy Gateway for about 255 billion less and build it up <gggg>. Amazing what some folks can come up with!!!!

Regards,
John
